An Inside Look at Oregon Humane Shelter Operations

Brian August, Oregon Humane Chief Operating Officer, takes you inside Oregon Humane for a behind-the-scenes look at shelter operations in the time of COVID-19.

During a typical year, more than 120,000 people walk through the doors at Oregon Humane. Members of our community come to adopt, participate in camp, take a class or attend a tour.

COVID-19 has changed almost every aspect Oregon Humane’s work – including access to the shelter. To protect the health and safety of staff and the public, programs have moved to virtual, curb-side or appointment only.

One thing hasn’t changed – Oregon Humane remains committed to helping as many pets and people as possible while we navigate the challenges of this pandemic.
