Oregon Humane donates more than 50,000 pounds of pet food to shelters, rescues and food pantries around the state.
The Oregon Humane has launched a state-wide effort to distribute pet food to shelters, rescues and food pantries for communities in need. On Tuesday, April 21, three Oregon Humane trucks were packed with dog food, cat food and litter, and headed to Hood River, Pendleton and Eugene. Deliveries will continue each Tuesday and Thursday for the next month with the goal of providing assistance to all 36 counties throughout Oregon.
“The Oregon Humane is here to serve the entire state, especially during this difficult time,” says Sharon Harmon, Oregon Humane President and CEO.
Today’s recipients included Greenhill Humane Society in Eugene, FISH Food Bank in Hood River and PAWS in Pendleton. On Thursday, teams from Oregon Humane will head to Humane Society of Central Oregon and Josephine County.
More than 50,000 pounds of pet food is expected to be distributed over the next month. Approximately 27,000 pounds of the pet food was supplied to Oregon Humane by GreaterGood.org.
“We are very thankful to our partners who have supported Oregon Humane and made this donation possible,” added Harmon.
