The nation’s top charity watchdog has awarded Oregon Humane its highest possible ranking for the seventh consecutive year, an honor given to only a handful of the nation’s nonprofits.
Of the more than 7,500 charities evaluated by Charity Navigator, only 2% have received 4-Star rankings for seven consecutive years. The ranking demonstrates that Oregon Humane “outperforms most other charities in America,” said Charity Navigator President Ken Berger.
The watchdog group’s 4-Star rating is given to nonprofits that demonstrate the highest levels of sound fiscal management along with a commitment to accountability and transparency. “This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Oregon Humane from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust,” said Berger.
The watchdog group evaluates the nation’s largest charities based on factors such as good governance, ethical practices and operating in a fiscally responsible manner. The 4-Star rating was based, in part, on the group’s determination that 86% of every dollar spent by Oregon Humane was devoted to programs helping animals.
“This latest ranking affirms that we are doing the best possible job in managing the donations from our community,” said Sharon Harmon, Oregon Humane executive director. Oregon Humane is dedicated to keeping administrative and fundraising costs low so that we can help as many pets as possible.
