Oregon Humane raises starting wage to $15 per hour
The Oregon Humane is joining other companies in raising the starting wage for entry level positions to $15 per hour. This change was made after a thorough analysis, collaboration with the Oregon Humane Board and represents a commitment to providing a living wage for all employees.
“We have a great mission and it’s important for us to attract and retain great employees,” says Rhonda Palos, Oregon Humane Vice President of Human Resources. “Raising the starting wage will ensure that we continue to provide high-quality care for the animals at Oregon Humane while fostering a positive work environment.”
The new hourly wage took effect at the end of July and impacts many early career positions at Oregon Humane including Animal Care, Customer Care, Admissions, Veterinary Assistant and Custodial positions.
“Offering a living wage is essential in today’s competitive employment environment,” says Sharon Harmon, Oregon Humane President and CEO. “Most importantly, it’s the right thing to do.”
